Christian IX (8. april 1818 – 29. januar 1906 var konge af Danmark fra 1863 til 1906 samt hertug af Slesvig, Holsten og Lauenborg fra 1863 til 1864.
Christian giftede sig med sin halvkusine, Prinsesse Louise af Hessen, i 1842. Deres seks børn giftede sig ind i flere af Europas fyrstehuse og skaffede Christian 9. tilnavnet Europas svigerfar.
Christian IX was king of Denmark from 1863-1906 and married Princess Louise of Hesse in 1842.
Their children married into European royal houses, and Christian IX became "Europe´s father-in-law"
I 1886 - 1886 komponerede maleren Laurits Tuxen sit "Fredensborgbillede".
De enkelte personer i billedet er dog ikke malet samlet, men i små grupper/hver for sig, og derefter komponeret ind i det samlede billede. Tuxen opholdt sig på Fredensborg Slot, så han kunne lære personernes udseende at kende.
Desuden rejste Tuxen rundt til de kongelige. De kejserlige og kongelige modellet blev fotograferet i havesalen, bort set fra Kong Christian IX & Dronning Louise, som blev fotograferet på Amalienborg. Personerne er opstillet efter rang, de fornemste forrest og i midten af billedet.
In 1883 - 86, the painter Laurits Tuxen composed his "Fredensborg picture".
However, the individual persons in the picture are not painted together, but in small groups / separately, and then composed into the overall picture. Tuxen stayed at Fredensborg Castle so he could get to know the people's appearance.
In addition, Tuxen traveled to the royals.
The imperial and royal models was photographed in the garden hall, away from King Christian IX & Queen Louise, who was photographed at Amalienborg. The people are placed by rank, the foremost front and in the middle of the picture.
